It’s May!
I’m pretty shocked by how fast time seems to be moving to me. I still feel like it’s the start of the year but the summer solstice is going to be right around the corner.
Last Wednesday I had a video gig at Wheaton College, filming their Jazz Band. The ensemble played a range of tracks from the mid 1900s. My fiancée described the show as “life-changing.” I had a lot of fun filming this, it was my first time in this theater. I was pretty intimidated but having completed it, I’m satisfied with the results. You can watch the video on YouTube here.
On Saturday, I reopened one of my old YouTube channels. It’s the account that I used to stream LittleBigPlanet content on. I stupidly didn’t pay attention to the fact you can only rename the channel twice within a 14-day span on YouTube, so currently it is “hellfire2345.tv” and not “hellfire.tv,” as I made two typos and saved it both times. Lame. (both the website and me)
That game, unfortunately, had its servers closed in April, which was a great loss to lots of people I know. I want to make some sort of a long-form post talking about LittleBigPlanet, because my life would not be what it is without that game. I have a lot to reflect on with that, and a lot of stories to tell.
As a result of this close, I’ve been kindof getting back into LittleBigPlanet. I have a difficult relationship with that game, as it brings back equally good and bad memories. As I get older, I try to let go of the bad and keep the good. I tried making a custom character costume (like a skin) but gave up pretty quickly. I don’t have it in me much anymore 🙁
There’s some kind of science out there in regards to how long it takes a person to forget something after having not thought about it for an extended period of time. I’ve been noticing that every time I get in and out of that game, I end up losing most of the knowledge I have the next time I get back into it. And the crazy part is, I was the first person to mod that game[citation needed], and I tend to forget most of what I know, resulting in me pestering the few people I know who still do play that game.
Anyway, that’s my reason for opening a blog, except instead of trying to remember how to convert a model file in LBP it’s trying to remember what I did last week.
